Going bump in Port Sunlight

WIRRAL ghost investigators are looking into things that go bump...in Port Sunlight.

Port Sunlight Village Trust chief executive Lionel Bolland has called in parascientists Ann Winsper and Steve Parsons to clear up a spate of strange noises, heat sources - and a visitation from a long-dead soldier.

After workers raised concerns, the pair are investigating the railway station, the Sunlight Vision Centre, old Heritage Centre, Hulme Hall, Lady Lever Art Gallery and the Gladstone Theatre.

Physicist Steve and psychologist Ann say they use scientific methods to objectively assess the phenomena.

Steve said: "Historically, the vision of a First World War soldier has been accompanied by unexplained shadows and lights flickering.

"We've spent a night at the Heritage Centre, early data suggests the staff aren't imagining it."

Ann added: "What's interesting so far is that we talk to people separately and they do seem to be indicating the same areas of the building they're uncomfortable with - this gives us a clue where to look."

The team's portfolio suggests anyone expecting a quick conclusion will be disappointed - a recent inquiry into strange reports at the former Cammell Laird site took a total of three years - and left Steve with what he believes is his most significant brush with the paranormal.

He said: "It had been a pretty uneventful night in one of the sheds and the BBC crew began to pack up - it was then lights started flickering and doors began opening and closing!"

Ann added: "A lot of the time the experiments are not to try and find a ghost, but to find the environmental condition that would cause someone to think they've seen one."
